Brakettes 2009 Summer Softball Clinics

Registrations are under way for the annual Stratford Brakettes summer softball clinics, which are set for Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field and the Short Beach Recreation complex. The clinics are under the tutelage of veteran Stratford Brakettes Manager John Stratton, and coaches Jay Stratton and Rich Roessner. Clinics are staffed by members of the 2009 Brakettes team and run from June 29th-July 17th, 2009.

There are six different sessions with the pitching and catching sessions scheduled for DeLuca Field. The Hitting/Offense (July 13-14) and the Fielding/Defense (July 16-17) sessions will be staged at Short Beach Recreation Complex. All sessions are from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

While the first beginning pitching session is set for (Monday/Tuesday) June 29-30, an identical beginning pitching session is scheduled for (Monday/Tuesday) July 6-7. In Beginning Pitching, campers focus on developing a motion and then mastering the basic mechanics of pitching.

Advanced Pitching on July 9,10 (Thursday, Friday) covers the different grips and spins used in throwing the riseball, drop pitch, curve ball and change of pace, as well as strategy and situations. The catching session on July 2 (Thursday*) is a one-day event and will feature assistant Coach Jay Stratton, a former minor league catcher, as well as the team's catching corps. Manager John Stratton will utilize the pitching talents of his current staff, featuring Bailey Sanders and Rachele Fico.

The Hitting/Offense on July 13,14 (Monday/Tuesday) and the Fielding/Defense on July 16,17 (Thursday/Friday) will feature Former LSU All- America and five-year Brakettes catcher, Killian Roessner as well as ASA all-stars Mandie Fishback of FAU, and Denise Denis of UMass.

All participants will receive a Stratford Brakettes Youth Club season pass that is good for one FREE admission to EVERY home game on the regular season schedule. It doesn't include the post season tournament, August 6-9.
