BRAKETTES HOST DIAMONDS TONIGHT; HEAD TO PENNSYLVANIA FOR THE WEEKEND

June 5, 2013 - The Stratford Brakettes return to action tonight (Thursday, June 6) when they host the Stratford Diamonds in a 7 o'clock doubleheader at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field. It will be the only home appearance this weekend for Manager John Stratton's club.

Following tonight's action the Brakettes leave for Pennsylvania to face the Lyons Spirit in a 7 p.m. twin-bill Saturday night and 11 a.m. doubleheader Sunday at Lyons Park in Lyons, PA. The team's next road trip takes place July 26-28, when the Brakettes travel to Rockford, Illinois for the USSSA World Series.

Stratton will have Stephanie Call (2-0) and second-year Brakettes pitcher Samantha Greiner available for mound duties. Greiner will be making her season debut after completing a solid season for the University of South Florida Bulls. She was 5-0 last summer for the Brakettes. Call allowed only one hit last weekend, while she led the team at the plate with a home run and seven RBI. Veteran pitcher Brandice Balschmiter (2-0) will also make the trip to Pennsylvania.

Newcomer Elise Fortier made a sparkling debut with six hits in the opening series, including three doubles and a home run. Shortstop Mandie Fishback also homered in the sweep of the Stratford Seahawks.

Tonight's games will be video webcast at brakettes.com.
