BRAKETTES ANNOUNCE 2015 SUMMER CLINICS SCHEDULE
May 3, 2015- The five-time defending National Champion Stratford Brakettes women's fastpitch softball team has announced the dates for its 2015 summer clinics schedule at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field in Stratford, CT.
The Brakettes will again offer five sessions between June 29 and July 14. All sessions are two days in duration, except for catching which is one day on July 2. For the 10th straight year the Brakettes have kept the prices the same!
The Brakettes Softball Clinic is for girls 8-years old through high school seniors. Every session is instructional in nature and run by members of the 2015 Brakettes, under the direction of veteran manager John Stratton, who is approaching 1,200 career wins. He has led the team to 10 National Championships, including five straight Women's Major Softball National Championships.
Regarded as one of the country's top pitching clinicians for over 40 years, Stratton has worked with all the great pitchers in Brakettes history, from the late Bertha Tickey and John Joyce, to Barbara Reinalda and Kathy Arendsen, to Rachele Fico, the 2013 No. 1 selection in the National Pro Fastpitch draft, to current day standouts Brandice Balschmiter and Allyson Fournier.
There will be two identical Beginning Pitching sessions (#1, June 29-30, and #5, July 13-14), one Catching sessions (#2, July 2), and skills sessions in Offense/Hitting (#3, July 6-7) and Defense/Fielding (#4, July 9-10).
The Beginning Pitching sessions deal with the fundamentals of pitching, developing a motion and progresses through the different grips and spins used in throwing the rise ball, drop, and change of pace. All the fundamentals of catching will be covered in Session #2. Session #3 deals with all aspects of hitting and Session #4 covers defense, fielding, and throwing. Numerous drills will be used and situations are covered.
Each session is two days from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon., except the one-day catching session. All campers will receive a Stratford Brakettes YOUTH CLUB pass that is good for one FREE admission to every home game during the regular season.
The price for the Clinic remains unchanged for the 10th straight year as each session is $90, except catching which is $50. Discounts are offered for attending multiple sessions.
