Sunday
Buckley, Lochten Dominate in Brakettes 4-0 Victory Over NYC Havoc

July 10 - by Ilan Woll - As the Brakettes 70th anniversary reunion weekend concluded with the Sunday Brunch, a matinee single game featured Tatum Buckley and Alyson Chiaramonte facing off in an effort by the home team to avenge their 5-4 Saturday night loss.

The first inning began with Tatum Buckley retiring the Havoc in order.  In the home half, Britt Lampert singled and, following a fielder's choice and a Denise Denis steal, Emily Lochten singled to right for the early 1-0 advantage.

After a strong second and third innings from both starting pitchers, both teams threatened in the fourth.  For the Havoc, Gina Gerone led off with an infield hit, and Brenna Martini drove a line drive to left field for a single, advancing the runners.  However, the next two hitters popped up and the last batter lined out to end the opportunity.  Meanwhile, with one out in the home half, Lochten drove a pitch to deep center for a very long home run.  Tatum Buckley and Mandie Fishback both singled, but did not score as the Brakettes lead expanded to 2-0.

The Brakettes offense did not let up in the fifth, as Amber Radomski started with a bloop single and was advanced by Danni Kemp.  Jordan Whitley lined a single to centerfield, putting runners at the corners.  Following a steal, Lampert hit a hard grounder down the first base line which hit the bag and scored Radomski.  A sacrifice fly from Denise Denis finished the offense as the lead expanded to it's final 4-0 victory.

Tatum Buckley, meanwhile, was masterful.  She retired the last twelve batters, allowing just the two hits and two walks while striking out five.  Stratford's record expands to 29-2.  Britt Lampert and Emily Lochten both had multiple hit games.

Following Sunday's game, the Brakettes go on a 5 day road trip starting Wednesday, July 13 to Bloomington, East Peoria, and Pekin, IL to play the best of the Midwest.  All games will be webcast on Brakettes.com.
