BRAKETTES POSTPONED THURSDAY NIGHT; RETURN TO ACTION FRIDAY

June 27 - STRATFORD - The forecast for steady rain has postponed Thursday night's scheduled doubleheader between the Stratford Brakettes and Stripes & Strikes of Hazelton, PA at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field.

Stripes & Strikes will play against the Brakettes on Friday and Saturday nights starting at 7 p.m. The Brakettes also host the Connecticut Eliminators Alumni Sunday at 4 p.m.

“Since they (Stripes & Strikes) are coming for three days, we made the decision to have them stay home Thursday because the forecast is pretty dismal,” said Brakettes General Manager Bob Baird.

The highlight of the weekend will be Saturday when the Brakettes honor Amber Radomski in pre-game ceremonies. Radomski announced her retirement as an active player prior to the 2018 season. She played 12 years for Manager John Stratton, the last eight as a player/coach.

“Amber has been a wonderful player and coach for us,” said Stratton. “She began her career as the team bat girl many years ago. We're happy that she will be remaining with us as a coach. She is one of our all-time crowd favorites.”

During her career the Brakettes won nine national championships as she hit .303 in 477 career games.

The Brakettes lost the services of second-year pitcher Abby Abramson (2-0) for three weeks after she dislocated a knuckle on her pitching had in last week's win over the XTreme Chaos.

Brandice Balschmiter (5-1) moved into fifth place overall in career wins, passing Donna Lopiano who finished her 10-year career at 183-18. Balschmiter currently is 184-15 in 11 years.
