BRAKETTES EXTEND WIN STREAK TO 12 GAMES
 June 16 - The Stratford Brakettes extended their win streak to 12 games by sweeping the Tanner Pride of Woburn, MA, 6-1 and 9-0 Saturday night at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field.
The teams meet again Sunday at 10 a.m. in another doubleheader. The start time was moved up an hour to try and beat the forecast for early afternoon rain.
Kaysee Talcik (5-0) pitched a three-hitter and struck out four in the mercy-rule second game. Scoring twice in the first inning, the Brakettes broke it open with five runs in the second frame, highlighted by Denise Denis' two-run single.
Britt Younan and Alex Heinen both had two hits and Gillian Birk hit a home run.
In the first game, BU freshman Julia Handfield (2-0) was the winning pitcher. Lauren Pitney's two-run home run gave the Brakettes a 2-0 lead in the second. After Courtney Cashman, who played for the Brakettes in 2017, homered for the Tanner Pride in the third, Denis' sacrifice fly made it 3-1. Birk and Casey Harding had RBI singles in the fifth and Denis homered in the sixth.
Jolie Duffner led the Brakettes (12-1) offense with three hits, while Pitney added two.
