STRATFORD BRAKETTES SWEEP JUNIORS IN FATHER'S DAY SOFTBALL ACTION
 June 21 - Sarah Lawton and Abby Abramson recorded complete game victories as the Stratford Brakettes swept a Father's Day doubleheader from the Junior Brakettes at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field. The Stratford Brakettes swept the four-game series to extend their winning streak to 50 games.
Lawton, of Waterbury, struck out 14 batters as the Stratford Brakettes bounced back from a first-inning 2-0 deficit, thanks to Lauren Rende's two-run top of the first home run.
UConn standout Briana Marcelino belted a three-run home run in the six-run third inning for a 6-2 lead, while Ansonia's Lauren Pitney had two hits and three RBI. Kaitlyn Flood of Southbury and Shelton's Emma Larke both added two hits.
Redding's Abby Ota had three hits in the opener and finished the twin-bill going 5-for-7.
 In the nightcap, Abramson of Cheshire picked up the win to remain unbeaten in her four-year career with the team. She struck out three.
Alexa Milius of Torrington went 3-for-3, while Larke, Flood and Redding's Kristen Acocella all had two hits.
After Pitney's third-inning home run made it a 3-0 game, the Junior Brakettes closed the deficit to 3-2 on New Canaan's Gillian Kane's RBI and Easton's Claire McCann's single.
The Stratford Brakettes host the Connecticut Rogue Thursday in a 7 p.m. doubleheader to begin a seven-game weekend, while the Junior Brakettes are back in action Saturday against the Rogue at DeLuca Field.
