MARCELINO SPARKS RALLY AS STRATFORD BRAKETTES BEAT ELIMINATOR WOMEN
 July 19 - Briana Marcelino drove in two runs with a single to center field to key a five-run, fifth inning outburst as the Stratford Brakettes defeated the Connecticut Eliminator Women 9-2 Sunday in the final game of the 2nd annual Micki Stratton Round Robin at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field.
Abby Abramson (4-0) stopped the Eliminator Women on three hits and she struck out eight in the complete game effort. Marcelino drove in three runs, while Rebecca Johnson, Lauren Pitney, Kaitlin Flood, and Katie Sciglimpaglia all had two hits.
After Marcelino's single made it a 3-1 game, Lauren Pitney followed with an RBI single before Sciglimpaglia's two-out, two-run home run to center broke the game wide open.
Losing pitcher Morgan Perry, an All-America at St. Anselm, surrendered 12 hits. Riley Pickett hit a two-out home run in the seventh inning for the Eliminator Women.
The Brakettes (21-2), who finished the event at 4-0, downed the CT Rogue 21-0 in a three-inning mercy rule game earlier Sunday afternoon. Ali DuBois (3-0) was the recipient of 15-hit assault as she tossed an abbreviated no-hitter. She walked two but they were both erased via Brakettes double plays.
Flood drove in seven runs with two hits, including a home run, while Gillian Birk also homered and drove in four runs. Val Suto, Pitney, and Alexa Milius had two RBI each.
The Junior Brakettes (9-6) finished 2-2 in the round robin. They stopped the CT Eliminators 18+ 11-3 as Sophia DiCocco won her third game of the year. They then lost to the Eliminator Women 12-4, after leading 4-1 early in the game.
The Eliminators 18+ finished 2-2, while the CT Rogue went 1-3 and Team Connecticut 0-4.
