The addition of New Haven's Sophie Grocki to the mound staff of Mary Primavera and Barbara Abernethy enabled the Brakettes to play their most ambitious schedule to date.
The ballclub compiled a 41-6 overall record in 1950 and they won four championships. Raybestos won the State League title, the National Girls' League Championship, the Connecticut ASA crown and their third straight New England Regional tournament.
The 1950 season was noteworthy in the team's history as it saw the Brakettes win their first National tournament game, edging out the host Thompson team of San Antonio, TX, 2-1. |
