Stratford Brakettes Announce Clinic Schedule

June 5, 2009 - The Stratford Brakettes have announced their 2009 Softball Clinics schedule, scheduled for Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field and the Short Beach Rec Complex in Stratford.

Under the direction of Manager John Stratton, the clinics run from June 29 through July 17. They are open to girls ages eight through high school seniors and they all are instructional in nature. Each session runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

There are two identical Beginning Pitching Sessions (Nos. 1 and 3), Advanced Pitching (No. 4), Offense/Hitting (No. 5), and Defense/Fielding (No. 6) that are two days in duration. Also, there is a one-day Catching clinic (No. 2) July 2.

The first Beginning Pitching session is June 29-30, while the second session is July 6-7. Advanced pitching is July 9-10. Offense/Hitting is July 13-14 followed by Defense/Fielding July 16-17.

Beginning Pitching starts with the fundamentals of pitching, developing a motion, and progresses through the different grips and spins used in the rise ball, drop, and change of pace. Advanced pitching is for those who have previous varsity experience and/or have mastered the basic pitching motion and body mechanics.

All aspects of offense/hitting will be covered in Session #5, while the fundamentals of fielding, throwing, and defensive situations will be covered in Session #6.

In addition to Stratton and his coaching staff, the 2009 Brakettes' players will be participating in each of the clinics.

With the exception of the Catching Clinic that is $50, the two-day sessions are $90 each with discounts available for attending multiple clinics. All clinic participants receive a complimentary season pass good for all 2009 Brakettes home games.
