BRAKETTES POSTPONED THURSDAY NIGHT; HOST HIGH SCHOOL STARS FRIDAY

June 18, 2009 - Thursday night's scheduled doubleheader with the Connecticut Panthers has been postponed because of rain and wet grounds. The teams will attempt to reschedule later in the year.

The Brakettes return to action on Friday night (June 19) when the play host to the Connecticut High School All-Stars in a single, nine-inning game beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field.

In addition to the Friday night game, the Brakettes host the New York Freedom Saturday at 6 p.m. and the Tradition U-23 of Wallingford, CT, Sunday at 6 p.m. in a pair of doubleheaders at DeLuca Field.

Boasting a 7-0 record, the Brakettes will host the Connecticut High School All-Stars and Masuk High's Gatorade Player of the Year Rachele Fico, who will attend LSU next fall. Fico will make her debut for the Brakettes in that game. However, that won't take place until she pitches the first three innings for the scholastic stars. Brakettes Manager John Stratton will pitch Fico the final three frames as she divides the game with Bailey Sanders (4-0) of UMass and Kirsten Allen (3-0) of Oklahoma.

The remainder of the high school all-star team consists of: pitchers Katie Hobson and Jenn Cruver of North Haven; catchers Amanda Banker of Southington, Megan Jakiela of Maloney, and Shayna Ramalho of Masuk; infielders Katie Lachance of Gilbert, Bridget Figmic and Christine DellaVecchia of St. Joseph, Chrissy Bourgoin of Lyman Memorial, Macy Stefanski of Montville, Catherine LeBlanc of St. Bernard, Melissa Ruiz of Newington, Kate Hoffman of Amity, Kim Silva of Cheshire, and Brittany Longo of Westhill; and outfielders Anna Gallacher of New Fairfield, Katherine McClusky of East Hampton; and Samantha Barbessi of Masuk.

Masuk's Jacquelin Sheftz, former-Brakette Sally Maher of North Haven, and Scott Aresco and Curt Hawkes of Maloney are the all-star coaching staff.

Gates to DeLuca Field will open at 5 p.m.
