Stratford Brakettes Announce Clinic Schedule

June 21, 2010 - The Stratford Brakettes have announced their 2010 Softball Clinics schedule for Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field in Stratford.

Under the direction of Manager John Stratton, there will be three clinics this summer. They are open to girls who are eight-years-old through high school seniors and they all are instructional in nature. Each session runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

The first session, Beginning Pitching, is July 7-8. The second session, Offense/Hitting is July 12-13, followed by session #3, Defense/Fielding, July 15-16.

Beginning Pitching starts with the fundamentals of pitching, developing a motion, and progresses through the different grips and spins used in the rise ball, drop, and change of pace. All aspects of offense/hitting will be covered, while the fundamentals of fielding, throwing, and defensive situations will be covered in Session #3.

In addition to Stratton, most of the 2010 Brakettes’ players will be participating in each of the clinics. Baylor University’s Whitney Canion, LSU’s Rachele Fico, UMass strikeout queen Sara Plourde and UMass graduate Bailey Sanders, who is unbeaten as a Brakettes pitcher, will handle the pitching clinic.

Mandie Fishback of Florida Atlantic, Ashley Waters of Maine, Carly Normandin of UMass, Jess Mouse of LSU, Jess Serio of UMass, and Lyndsay Mouse of UNC-Greensboro will conduct the Offense and Defense clinics.

Each two-day session is $90 each with discounts available for attending multiple clinics. All clinic participants receive a complimentary season pass good for all 2010 Brakettes home games. Also, those attending the pitching clinic receive a Dudley Softee ball.
