STRATFORD BRAKETTES 2013 SEASON TICKETS ARE ANOTHER GREAT BARGAIN FOR SOFTBALL FANS

April 9, 2013 - The Stratford Brakettes will open their 67th consecutive season of play on June 1 at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field. The team has approximately 28 home play dates in Stratford. The 2013 schedule will be finalized within the next week and posted on the Brakettes website at www.brakettes.com.

Manager John Stratton's club will feature a large contingent of returning players plus several new ones this season. Pitcher Rachele Fico will not be with the club this year as she was the No. 1 overall pick in the National Pro Fastpitch Draft on April 1. She will be playing with the Akron Racers this summer and we wish her all the best.

Last year's club enjoyed an outstanding season as they captured the championship of the 4th annual Women's Major Softball National Championship tournament for the third straight year. They also won the prestigious Fastpitch Championship Invitational in Henderson, NV, which included six straight wins out of the loser's bracket. They won the title with 7-0 and 3-2 wins over the talented So. California Hurricanes and finished with a 7-1 record in the event.

Although the team saw its record 168 consecutive game win streak halted in a pair of 5-3 defeats in Akron against the Racers, the Brakettes continue to seek out the best competition in the country. That will be the case again this season as the Brakettes and the newest member of the NPF, the New York/New Jersey Comets, will meet in a July 17 doubleheader at DeLuca Field starting at 6:30 p.m. The rain date is Tuesday, July 23.

The Brakettes-Comets doubleheader will be part of the season ticket package!

In addition to regular season dates at DeLuca Field, the Brakettes again will host the 5th annual Women's Major Softball championship tournament August 8-11. A field between 10-13 teams is anticipated.

Stratton's club will host the first Brakettes Invitational July 19-21 at DeLuca Field. Eight teams are entered with pool play Friday and Saturday followed by single-elimination action Sunday. This, too, is part of the season ticket package.

This season the Brakettes will travel to Rockford, IL, to participate in the 20-team USSSA World Series July 26-28. The field includes Midwest power Indiana Slammers, the St. Louis Saints, Pekin Lettes, Bloomington, IN, Lady Hearts, Peoria Rage, and Michigan Explorers.

Season ticket prices have remained the same for the fourth straight year. Anyone who purchases a season pass will receive special discounts on the National Tournament tickets. We are still relying on the generosity of our fans and area businesses to make all of this happen. If you know someone that might be interested in becoming a season ticket holder, please let us know and we will send them the information.
