STRATFORD BRAKETTES ANNOUNCE 2013 SUMMER CLINICS SCHEDULE
May 2, 2013 - The defending National Champion Stratford Brakettes women's fastpitch softball team has announced the dates for its 2013 summer clinics schedule. All sessions will take place at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field in Stratford, CT, the home site of the Brakettes who posted a 68-3 record last year en route to their third straight Women's Major Softball National Championship. Once again the Brakettes will offer five sessions between July 1 and July 16. All sessions are two days in duration, except for catching which is one day on July 5. The sessions begin at 9:30 a.m. and run to 12 noon each day. Download a copy of the Clinic Brochure. The Brakettes Softball Clinic is for girls 8-years old through high school seniors. Every session is instructional in nature and run by members of the Brakettes 2013 team, under the direction of veteran manager John Stratton. Last year Stratton became only the second manager in team history to record his 1,000 career victory as he guided the Brakettes to the Faspitch Championship Invitational in Henderson, NV, by beating the talented So. California Hurricanes twice on the final day before going undefeated for the third straight year in the WMS tournament. Stratton is one of the nation's top pitching clinicians and he has worked with all the great ones in Brakettes history, from Bertha Tickey and Joan Joyce, to Barbara Reinalda and Kathy Arendsen, to Rachele Fico (the No. 1 pick in this year's pro draft) and Brandice Balschmiter. There will be two identical Beginning Pitching sessions (#1 and #5), one Catching Session (#2), and skills sessions in Offense & Hitting (#3) and Defense & Fielding (#4). The Beginning Pitching sessions deal with the fundamentals of pitching, developing a motion and progresses through the different grips and spins used in throwing the rise ball, drop, and change of pace. All the fundamentals of catching will be covered in Session #2. Session #3 deals with all aspects of hitting and Session #4 covers defense, fielding, and throwing. Numerous drills will be used and situations will be covered. Each session is two days from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon. All campers will receive a Stratford Brakettes YOUTH CLUB pass that is good for one FREE admission to every home game on the regular-season schedule.
