BRAKETTES DEFEAT HIGH SCHOOL ALL-STARS
June 17 - Kristen Acocella crushed two home runs and Gillian Birk and Lea White added one each to lead the Stratford Brakettes to an 18-1 victory over the Connecticut High School All-Stars Thursday night at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field.
Jessica Burlingame and Birk both had three hits, while Briana Marcelino, Katie Sciglimpaglia and White added two apiece for the Brakettes (9-0), who return to action Saturday at 7 p.m. against the CT Impact 23U in a twin-bill.
Winning pitcher Sarah Lawton (4-0) pitched five no-hit innings and fanned 10, with Ali DuBois finishing the game.
Junior Brakettes infielder Abby Ota scored the High School all-stars lone run on a wild pitch, while Select Brakettes outfielder Mac Stone-Folmar got their only hit, a two-out infield single in the final inning. Amity's Kelly Pritchard, another Select Brakettes player, held the Stratford Brakettes scoreless for three innings before a 6-run outburst in the fourth inning sealed the verdict.
The Junior Brakettes will be in action Friday against the CT Impact 23U in a 7 p.m. doubleheader at DeLuca Field.
