Brakettes Season Tickets on Sale; Opening Night is June 2nd
March 20 - Season tickets are now on sale for the Stratford Brakettes' 2023 season, which opens Friday, June 2nd at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field (Stratford, CT) against the Junior Brakettes.
The season pass is good for admission to all Stratford and Junior Brakettes home games at DeLuca Field throughout the 2023 season, including the fourth annual Micki Stratton Round Robin on July 15th-16th.
Brakettes season ticket prices are yet again family-friendly, as they haven't changed since 2010! Season tickets are $100 for box seats, $80 for reserved with back rests (red section behind home plate), and $60 for first and third-base bleacher seats. All subsequent tickets purchased are at one-half price.
Newly named Brakettes Manager Lauren Pitney will lead the Brakettes into a new era, taking over for the legendary John Stratton, who guided the franchise for the last 28 seasons. Pitney was the Head Coach of the Select Brakettes for the last two seasons, after four years playing second base for the Stratford Brakettes.
John Stratton will remain in the dugout, but in a new role as Coach/Director of Player Development. Stratton led the Brakettes to their 12th WMS Championship in 2022 (his 17th National title, along with five ASA National Championships) and was soon after selected to the National USA (ASA) Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City.
The Brakettes' roster will be highlighted by key returnees Jana Sanden (UCONN), Katie Sciglimplaglia (St. Peter's), Kaitlyn Flood (Manhattan), Sarah Rende (Binghampton), Aliya Catanzarita (Hofstra), and others. Sanden captured the Brakettes' Triple Crown in 2022, leading the team with a .500 batting average, 16 home runs and 55 RBIs.
Lauren Rende (Manhattan) is set to play again for the Brakettes after sitting out 2022 following surgery. She smashed nine homers and produced a team-high 45 RBIs in 2021. Her return would allow her to play with the Brakettes alongside her sister, Sarah, who debuted in 2022.
Both the Stratford Brakettes and Junior Brakettes will play extensive home schedules during the regular season and will participate in the Micki Stratton Round Robin and the 15th annual WMS National Championship August 2nd-6th. (Separate tickets are sold for the WMS Championship).
Home series are already set with the Maryland Chill, (New) Jersey Kaboom, Newtown (PA) Rock 23U and Massachusetts Drifters. The Connecticut Freedom, who defeated the Brakettes in their first-ever meeting during 2022 WMS Pool Play, will make their regular-season debut at DeLuca Field in games against both the Brakettes and Junior Brakettes.
The Junior Brakettes will again be coached by former Brakette catcher (2015/2016) Mary Sciglimpaglia (Brainard) and Rob Sciglimpaglia. The daughter and father have led the Juniors since 2019, with this campaign marking their fifth season coaching together. The Juniors finished tied for fourth in last year's WMS.
Unfortunately, there will not be a Select Brakettes team in 2023. The Select squad enjoyed two highly successful seasons, finishing runners-up to the Brakettes in the 2021WMS Nationals and fourth place in 2022.
