Playing a team record 74 games, the Brakettes finished runnerup in the 1964 World Tournament, held in Orlando, FL, as they lost to the Erv Lind Florists of Portland, OR, 1-0, in the finals.

With Joan Joyce leaving the team to play for the Orange, CA, Lionettes, the majority of the pitching once again fell upon veteran Bertha (Ragan) Tickey. She turned in a superlative peformanace, appearing in all nine games played by the Brakettees. For the second time in three years, the Brakettes lost on opening night as Joyce set down her former teammates, 2-0.

Tickey then proceeded to pitch 50 consecutive scoreless innings before she allowed a run in the fourth inning of the championship to Portland. Tickey began with three scoreless innings against Shakopee, MN, 8-0. She then defeated Elizabeth, NJ, 1-0; Salt Lake City, UT, 3-0; Houston, TX, 1-0, 8 innings; Adrian, MI, 4-0; Orange, CA, 2-0; and Orlando, FL, 1-0.

Pitcher Tickey, first baseman Shirley Topley, third baseman Carol LaRose and catcher Micki Stratton were first-team All-America picks, while outfielder Ann DeLuca was a second-team All-America.

Tickey, who earned her 14th all-star selection, set a Brakettes record for victories with her 32-5 record. Topley led the team with a .364 batting average.

In posting a 59-15 season mark, the Brakettes lost four straight games to the Women's World All-Stars during the season.
