Brakettes Sweep Pennsylvania Road Trip; Prepare To Host Pink Panthers Thursday

June 11, 2007 - The Brakettes swept through a Pennsylvania road trip this past weekend, outscoring their opponents 61-4 in their six victories, while improving to 12-0 for the season. Brandice Balschmiter and Candice Freel each stand at 6-0 for the year, and both showed great toughness in working out of bases-loaded jams Sunday. The pitching tandem received plenty of run support from their teammates, who combined for 68 hits in the six-game swing.

Coming off 8-0 and 7-2 wins Friday over the Patriot Gators, the Brakettes romped over the Topton VIP's Saturday by 13-1 and 9-1 scores. They finished the mission on Sunday, with a pair of 12-0 wins over the Maurer and Scott Blasters, in Topton, PA.

Allison Twarowski smacked her first home run of the season in the first game with the VIP's, and added a double and a single, to combine for 5 RBI in the contest. She ripped a triple Sunday, and scored twice in the second game against the Blasters. Chelsea Bramlett, who made her Brakette debut Friday night, had three hits in each of the Sunday contests, giving her five consecutive multi-hit games. Mandie Fishback hit her team-leading third homer of the season Saturday night against Topton, then went 3-for-3 with a triple in the Sunday matinee.

Beth Boden, who also made her debut in red and white on Friday, hit her second homer of the season on Saturday against Topton, and added a two-run triple in the second game Sunday. Stephanie Hill, who played for the Brakettes in the pro league last year, had a home run and a triple Saturday night, followed by a bases-loaded triple on Sunday afternoon. Jenna Macchi contributed five hits Saturday, including two triples, while Jill Cimminello had four hits on Sunday, including two triples and a double.
