Brakettes Top All-Stars in Exhibition, 1-0

June 26, 2014 - Allyson Fournier struck out 18 batters at Rhode Island College on Thursday night, as the Brakettes defeated the Planet Fastpitch All-Stars, 1-0, at RIC Field in Providence. Cassie Ruscz made a successful Brakette debut, as she singled to right field on the first pitch she saw in the top of the second. Ruscz scored the game's only run later that inning on an RBI groundout by Amber Radomski.

Brandice Balschmiter was "loaned" to the Planet Fastpitch squad for the contest, as she is an employee at the fastpitch training facility in Massachusetts. She struck out 10 Brakettes in the game, while scattering seven hits.

The Brakettes loaded the bases in the first, third and fifth innings, but could not muster a run against their long-time teammate in those frames.

The first 16 All-Star outs in the game came via Fournier strikeouts, as she continued her dominant 2014 campaign.

The Brakettes return to action on Friday night against the New York Swag with a 7:00 doubleheader at DeLuca Field in Stratford.
