BRAKETTES INVITE ALL YOUTH LEAGUE TEAMS/PLAYERS TO BE OUR GUESTS

August 1, 2014 - There is only one week remaining in the Stratford Brakettes' 2014 season, but it will be a busy one. And the defending four-time Women's Major Softball National Champions would like to invite all youth league teams and players to be part of it.

"We have had an outstanding turnout of girl's softball teams this summer," said General Manager Bob Baird. "We want as many of them as possible to be part of what we hope will be another championship season."

Therefore, the Brakettes have extended their invitation of free admission to include the 6th annual WMS National Championship August 7-10 at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field and the Short Beach Rec Complex. The Brakettes also have an important doubleheader on Tuesday, August 5 against the St. Louis Saints, who will also be competing in the tournament. Tuesday’s twin-bill starts at 6:30 p.m. That doubleheader is also part of the invitation.

"Once again we will let all players and coaches in for free throughout the last week of the season," added Baird. "We are also looking for 10 girls to serve as the banner carriers for the 10 teams in the national tournament. They will hold the team banner as they lead the team onto the field for pre-game ceremonies on August 7." The first team to contact Kathy Gage, the youth team coordinator and team photographer, will be part of the Opening Ceremonies as well as being invited to attend the pre-tournament cookout with the players that starts August 7 at 5 p.m.
