CONNECTICUT BRAKETTES ANNOUNCE CHANGE IN SCHEDULE; TEAM WILL PLAY CHINESE TAIPEI SUNDAY IN HOME DOUBLEHEADER

June 10, 2006 - The Connecticut Brakettes will try again to open their National Pro Fastpitch home season Sunday in a 6 p.m. doubleheader with the Chinese Taipei Olympic Team at Frank DeLuca Hall of Fame Field. This is a change from the original schedule that listed the Brakettes for 6 p.m. twin-bills June 12 and 13.

In addition to Sunday’s doubleheader, the Brakettes and Chinese Taipei will play single games on Monday and Tuesday (June 12 and 13) at 7 p.m. at DeLuca Field.

After seven straight postponements because of rain or wet playing fields, the Brakettes are set to open their season today (Saturday, June 10) in Allentown, PA, against the Philadelphia Force at Bicentennial Park. Sarah Pauly (24-8) is the scheduled starter for the Brakettes, who have been on the diamond only once this season. On June 1 the Brakettes and New England Riptide played four innings before a thunderstorm and heavy rain washed away a 1-0 Brakettes’ lead. Pauly had had a no-hitter and six strikeouts through the four innings.

Pauly and Nikki Myers, who last pitched for the Brakettes in 2003, will split the mound chores Sunday against Chinese Taipei, which is playing four-game series with the Brakettes, Akron Racers and Chicago Bandits before heading to the Canada Cup in Vancouver, BC.

Tickets purchased for any of the four postponed home games with the Riptide may be exchanged for any game on the 2006 schedule.
