What started out as a high school coaching job assignment in the spring of 2014 for the late great Mr. Bob Baird at Stratford High School, has evolved into every sports minded person's fantasy come true.

After that season of coaching junior varsity baseball at SHS, Bob Baird tapped Moe on the shoulder and asked if he was available to perform some handy work at the home of the Stratford Brakettes, DeLuca Field. Most notably the installing and dismantling of the outfield fence on a weekly basis, as the field was shared by both the Brakettes and the Town of Stratford Recreation Department slow pitch softball leagues.

The answer was an easy yes as the Brakettes have had a special place in all softball fan's hearts here in Stratford.

Moe has always been a fan of the team going back to Raybestos Memorial Field, the former home of the Brakettes and the Raybestos Cardinals in the 1970s, and certainly earlier than that. The Stratford Original Little League issued “Knot Hole Gang" cards to all little league players. With the card, admission to games played by each team was free, thus allowing many youngsters to attend a world treasure of softball entertainment.

As an 8 year old Moe served as a batboy for the Cardinals, and no one who ever served in that role will forget the experience of being on the field with so many greats.

Moe's father introduced Brakettes softball to him during those 1970s times and just like anyone who attended and still attends Brakettes games, amazement takes over. So much high pitched chatter by the players on the field, at the plate, and in each dugout describing the energetic atmosphere hovering over the passionate contests draws anyone's attention closer to the game itself.

Fast forward to the current times, Moe has had some extra tasks (in addition to the fence duties) added over the years by becoming involved with game day operations. The fan experience at each game is the goal of the organization and Moe was assigned to that detail making sure there were no Brakette equipment failures at the field, that repairs were made as needed and also making certain that each Brakette staff member was able to perform their assigned function efficiently.

During the 2020 Covid health guideline restricted season, when the only show around was the Stratford Brakettes, the fence detail was no longer needed. Moe was assigned to maintain Covid compliance checks in which all reasonable procedures were being followed.

Also during the 2020 campaign, at the request of Rob Baird, Assistant GM at the time, he was asked to assist “The Voice” of the Brakettes, Will Gallagher, with the streaming of games on Brakettes.com as a fill in color commentator to add to the exclusive coverage the Brakettes provide.

The two have been providing game day coverage ever since and have added a few other venues to Brakettes.com in the form of local high school sports.

It can be said that whatever is asked of Moe, he will do his best to get it done.
