John Stratton
(Field Manager)
John Stratton is the field manager for the Brakettes. Now in his 20th year with the team, Stratton did an outstanding job during a major rebuilding season last year, leading the Brakettes to a 30-8-1 record and 7th place finish in the National ASA Championship. Twice before last year, Stratton bad been involved in managerial roles with the Brakettes.
During the 1976 season, Stratton took over as "interim" manager when Ralph Raymond suffered a heart attack and he led an entirely new team to the National Championship. Stratton and Andy VanEtten were co-managers in 1995 and they directed the ball club to a 57-3 season and third place tournament finish in Decatur, IL.
A graduate of Stratford High School and the University
of Bridgeport, Stratton has been a physical education instructor in the New Canaan, CT,
School System for nearly 35 years. Director of the S.O.S. Clinic (Stratton on Softball),
John is regarded as one of the top pitching clinicians in the game today. He has been
inducted into both the Connecticut ASA and Collegiate Halls of Fame, while his wife Micki
was the first Brakettes player inducted into the National ASA Hall of Fame in Oklahoma
City.
John and Micki are the parents of one son, John, Jr.,
who was an All-America baseball player at Jacksonville State and a former minor league
catcher for Lubbock, TX, in the Texas/Louisiana League.
