While Rob Baird has been associated with the Brakettes going back to his days as a ball chaser at Raybestos Memorial Field, he officially joined the NPF Connecticut Brakettes in 2006 as their "on-air" voice. Rob did the play-by-play for all regular and post-season games last year on the Brakettes radio network. He will continue in that role this season. He is also the voice of University of Bridgeport basketball on WPKN 89.5 FM in Bridgeport.
Rob is a graduate of Stratford High School and the University of Bridgeport, where he played baseball and ran cross country. After teaching music for four years in Bridgeport, CT, Rob attended the Connecticut School of Broadcasting and served an internship at WFAN 660 AM in New York, including the "Mike and the Mad Dog" show. Rob works full-time for the Dan Patrick (formerly of ESPN) Radio Show in Milford, CT. Rob is involved with all aspects of the softball operations and he will work on expanding the team's visibility through local and regional clinics. Rob is married to former Brakettes pitcher Leslie Malerich, who is currently pitching professionally in Italy as well as for the Italian National Softball team. |
