John Stratton Field Manager (35th Year) |
||||||
John Stratton begins his 35th year as a member of the Brakettes softball family. Since 1995 John has served as manager of the club and has done a great job of keeping the team's reputation for excellence alive and thriving. In 2006 John served as the manager of the Connecticut Brakettes of the National Pro Fastpitch league and he led them to a runner-up finish in both the regular season and the NPF Championship Series before returning to the Stratford Brakettes in 2007.
During his 17-year managerial career (which includes the 1976 season when he filled in for Ralph Raymond) he has led them to six National Championships, one runner-up finish and five third place finishes. He enters the 2012 season with a 964-108 record. A graduate of Stratford High School and the University of Bridgeport, Stratton is a retired physical education teacher in the New Canaan school system. John is one of the country's top pitching clinicians and he has been inducted into both the Connecticut ASA and Collegiate Halls of Fame, while his wife Micki (Rosemary Macchietto) was the first Brakettes player inducted into the National ASA Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. John is enjoying his third year of retirement from his post as pitching coach at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. At FAU, Stratton worked for Joan Joyce, the former Brakettes pitcher and National ASA Hall of Famer. John's son Jay, a former minor league baseball player, managed the Stratford Brakettes to their 27th National ASA title in 2006. Jay, married to former Brakettes catcher Keri McCallum Stratton, is the assistant coach at Yale. They have a daughter, McKenna and a son, Conner. |
