Brandice Balschmiter enters the 2012 season with a chance to enter some exclusive territory. The all-time winningest pitcher at UMASS with 126 victories, Balschmiter is primed to move up the Brakettes' career wins and strikeouts charts. She enters the season with an 80-7 record and 810 strikeouts, and could become the eighth Brakettes to reach 100 victories and seventh to notch 1,000 K's. Brandice struck out 1,218 batters in her UMASS career and was named the Atlantic-10 Pitcher of the Year in all four seasons at the school. Brandice claimed the Bertha Tickey Award as the top pitcher at the 2007 ASA Nationals in South Bend, IN and shared the 2011 WMS Most Outstanding Pitcher Award with teammate Rachele Fico. Balschmiter was the 2009 first-round draft pick of the professional NPF Chicago Bandits. She pitched for the Bandits during the 2009 season, before returning to the Brakettes in 2010.
