Bob enters his 31st year as the General Manager of the Brakettes. Prior to assuming his GM duties in 1988, he was a sports writer for the Bridgeport Post where he covered the team for 20 years and attended 15 National ASA tournaments as a writer. He has coached women's softball and basketball at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, CT. His softball teams won three state and one New England title, and his basketball teams won three state titles and participated in as many NJCAA Region 21 tournaments.

Following a two-year tenure as assistant softball coach at Sacred Heart University, where the Lady Pioneers finished third and fourth in the NCAA Division II World Series, Baird coached four years at St. Joseph High School and his teams compiled a 76-25 record. As head softball coach at Stratford High School in 2004, the Lady Red Devils went 20-6 and reached the CIAC Class L semifinals. Recently retired as athletic director at Stratford High School, Bob and his wife Joy reside in Stratford. They have six children and twelve grandchildren.
