Rachele Fico was the most celebrated high school softball player to join the Brakettes since Joan Joyce debuted in 1957. Connecticut's Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior and a senior, Fico led Masuk High School to State Championships. Splitting time between the Brakettes and her 18-U Gold team in 2008 and 2009, Fico was a combined 10-0 in limited action over her first two Brakette seasons. While playing full-time for the Brakettes in 2010, she went 33-0 and struck out 305 batters in 201 innings. Rachele was named both the Most Outstanding Pitcher and Most Valuable Player at the 2010 WMS National Championship, even throwing a perfect game against the runner-up St. Louis Saints in the winners bracket final. In her freshman season at LSU, Fico led the Tigers pitching staff with a 20-7 record and an ERA of 1.15. She went 14-10 during an injury-plagued 2011 season at LSU.
