Position: 1B/OF Bats: R Throws: R College: Trinity College Resides: Westport, CT Gillian Birk concluded her Trinity College softball career on a losing note in a 14-7 loss to Bowdoin College. Nevertheless, she got to do something new for the Bantams in her four-year career. With her team losing by six runs entering the home fourth, her head coach handed her the ball and the talented first baseman fulfilled a dream of pitching. She allowed two hits and two earned runs, but she struck out six. The former Staples High team captain and All-FCIAC performer with a .390 career batting average, realized it was a once-in-a-lifetime situation. Do not expect Stratford Brakettes Manager John Stratton to give her a game ball unless it is for hitting a walk-off home run. Gillian sports a .322 batting average in two Brakettes seasons with 21 extra base hits, including 8 home runs. She tied for the team lead in 2020 with six dingers. A team captain the past two years, she was one of six graduating Trinity College seniors.
