Position: SS/IF Bats: R Throws: R College: Manhattan Resides: Ardsley, NY It does not matter which position she plays this summer. Lauren Rende is the type of player who will excel anywhere. While the 5-foot-5 shortstop dazzled the Junior Brakettes in 2020 with her slick fielding and consistent bursts of power at the plate, she has no idea where she will be in the field for the Stratford Brakettes. It doesn't matter. I just want to help the team win, said the sophomore shortstop for NCAA D1 tourney qualifier Manhattan. Rende got off to a slow start for the Jaspers, missing five games with a concussion, but she finished strong as they captured the MAAC title and a berth in the NCAA Arkansas Regional. She hit .435 for the Junior Brakettes last year with nine doubles, one triple and was the co-home run champion with six and 30 RBI. She led Ardsley, NY, High to a 24-3 record and Class B state title in 2019. An all-state shortstop as a junior, she volunteered to catch when the team did not have a quality backstop. It did not faze her one bit as she earned NYSSWA Class B Player of the Year laurels.
