Already one of the top players in the American Athletic Conference for the UConn Huskies, Briana Marcelino was an instant hit last summer with the Stratford Brakettes. Briana had a magnificent season in 23 games, hitting .426 with seven home runs and 36 RBI. She was outstanding in the WMS championships where she was named a First Team All-America and captured the Pat Dufficy home run championship. In addition she won the Micki Stratton Most Valuable Player award and the Allyson Rioux Defensive Player award. During her sophomore season with UConn, Briana hit .359 with eight home runs and 19 RBI.
