Stephanie Best

In the summer of 2004 it was “the Best” of times for the Stratford Brakettes as rookie shortstop/third baseman Stephanie Best became a BIG hit with the local fans. The Fort Mill, SC, native put up some pretty impressive numbers as she helped direct the team to its 26th National ASA championship. Best rejoins the Brakettes after spending the 2005 NPF season with the New England Riptide. While capturing the 2004 team batting title with a .367 average, the University of Central Florida star also led the club with 10 home runs and 51 RBI. Best was a three-time Conference Player of the Year and All-Southeast Region pick at UCF, where she led the Golden Knights to the NCAA tourney her senior year (47-29-1). Ranked among the nation’s leading hitters in several offensive categories throughout her career, Best led the country with 26 home runs in 2005, finishing with 71 overall, which ranks eighth on the all-time NCAA Division I home run list. She finished her collegiate career with 213 RBI. Last year for the Riptide, Best hit .262 with four home runs and 17 RBI, despite missing several games with an injury.
