Jen Owens

Jennifer Owens made quite an impression on the Brakettes coaching staff during her rookie season in 2005. Despite missing several games with an injury, and having to leave for her full-time job before the ASA National Championship had finished, Owens ended the year with a .309 batting average. Defensively, she was a rock at third base as she made several key plays during a 51-17 campaign. She snagged a line drive over her head for the final out in the Brakettes 2-1 victory over the New England Riptide last July 17. Owens, a Miami native, is an elementary school teacher. She came to the Brakettes following a prolific four-year career with the Florida International University Golden Panther softball and volleyball teams. She finished her softball career as the programs all-time leader in batting average (.327), runs batted in (136), total bases (340) and doubles (35). She was named to the NFCA All-Southeast Region First Team and the All-Academic All-District III Team in 2003. She was named to the Sun Belt all-conference team four years.
