Kellie Wilkerson

Kellie Wilkerson returns to the Brakettes softball family after playing in the National Pro Fastpitch league with the New York Juggernauts and New England Riptide the last two years. One of the most prolific hitters in Brakettes’ history, Wilkerson already has the Stratford fans buzzing in anticipation of her vaunted home run swing. The former Mississippi State University All-America has hit some of the longest home runs ever hit at DeLuca Field. In 2003, her last season with the Brakettes, she almost became the first fastpitch player to go yard over the 300-foot outfield wall as the ball hit the top of the fence and bounced back. That year she finished second in the HR derby with 10 over the 210-foot barrier. After winning the batting title as a rookie in 2000 with a .386 mark, she was unbelievable in 2002 (.560) and .2003 (.539), but she lacked sufficient at bats to qualify for the batting crown because of her involvement in Team USA Softball. Last summer Kellie made the USA National Team and she is vying for another spot this summer. Playing for the Riptide last year, Wilkerson led the club with a .435 average with five doubles and four homers. In 2004 she helped the Juggernaut win the NPF title as she hit .333, second best in the circuit. While at MSU, Wilkerson was a four-time All-America. In addition to her big-league bat, Kellie set the NCAA single-season save record with 14 in 2002 and she finished her career with 32.
