Position: P Bats: R Throws: R College: Massachusetts Resides: Newark, NY Brandice Balschmiter continues to put up astounding numbers pitching for UMass during the college season and with the Stratford Brakettes in the summer. After her finest collegiate season thus far, Balschmiter will be one of the key members of the Brakettes' mound staff. Brandice compiled a 31-8 record with a 0.66 ERA, 309 strikeouts in 267 innings and five no-hitters, which included two perfect games. Named to the Easton Second All-America Team, the only player in school history to achieve AA honors three straight years, Balslchmiter had a string of 24 straight wins and 78 consecutive scoreless innings last spring. She owns a 97-27 career mark with a 1.00 ERA and 874 strikeouts at UMass and is the three-time A-10 Pitcher of the Year. She also captured the league's MVP award this year. In two seasons with the Brakettes she has led the staff both years and has a 37-5 overall record. Named to the ASA All-America Team last year, she also claimed the Bertha Tickey Award as the top pitcher in South Bend, IN. Last year Brandice posted a 23-3 record with 204 strikeouts.
