Jessica Serio is a most welcomed addition to the Brakettes roster. The Barrington, RI, resident recently concluded an outstanding sophomore year at UMass where she caught every game for the Minutewomen. Jessica earned A-10 All-Conference Second Team as she posted a team-leading .365 batting average (54-for-148) with 15 runs scored, 15 doubles, and 23 RBI. Serio carried a .466 slugging percentage with a .457 on-base percentage and she had a team-high 18 multi-hit games. In her freshmen season she played in 40 games, starting 35 of them, and finished with a .221 average. She came to UMass following a superb scholastic career at Barrington High where she compiled a .686 career batting average, .720 on-base percentage, and a 1.157 slugging percentage. Serio finished her high school career with 22 home runs, 50 doubles, and 17 triples, as she earned All-State honors two years. She also played goalie on the field hockey team that went undefeated and won the state championship and she was a two-year baskeball starter as well.
