Position: OF Bats: L Throws: L College: Arizona State Resides: Yorba Linda, CA When you talk about respect in college softball the name that is mentioned most of the time is that of Arizona State junior outfielder Kaitlin Cochran. Called by many experts as the "best hitter in college softball today", Cochrans reputation preceded her to Oklahoma City and the College World Series. Once at the CWS she didnt get much of an opportunity to swing the bat as opposing coaches opted to walk her intentionally (six straight times). However, when she did get to flex her offensive muscle, the results were devastating, such as her three-run opposite-field home run in the clinching 11-0 win over Texas A&M to win the title. The 5-foot-9 left-handed hitter finished the year with a .439 batting average, 86 runs scored, and 51 RBI. She had 19 doubles, four triples and 14 home runs in addition to walking 76 times and being hit by a pitch 13 times. She is a three-time First Team All-America and the second Sun Devil to play for the Brakettes in as many years with pitcher Katie Burkhart, the CWS MVP, the first. |
