Position: OF/IF Bats: R Throws: R College: Maine Resides: Amesbury, MA Ashley Waters is a first-year member of the Brakettes. She has been the mainstay of the University of Maines softball team the past three years, appearing in all 152 games. A second baseman for the Bears, Waters will also see time in the outfield this summer. This past season she led Maine with a .352 batting average with 33 runs scored and 30 RBI. She had 11 doubles, 1 triple and a team-high 10 home runs. In 2007, Waters hit .348 and a team-leading 29 RBI. A two-time captain at Amesbury, MA, high school, Waters won the Boston Globe Will McDonough Award in 2005 as the Massachusetts Female Athlete of the year. She owned a career .479 batting average, which featured a .624 mark her senior year. In addition to her offense, she was a touted pitcher at Amesbury, where she had a 82-10 career record with a 0.54 ERA and 744 strikeouts. Ashley was chosen the Cape Ann League Player of the Year three times as she led her team to four league titles. In additional to softball, she played field hockey and basketball at Amesbury. |
