A mid-season addition to the 2019 Junior Brakettes, Sarah Lawton was a pleasant surprise on the mound. The Waterbury native fashioned a 4-3 record with a 3.02 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 34.2 innings pitched. The former two-time Class S All-Stater and Class S MVP pitcher for Holy Cross High, Lawton compiled a two-year career record of 19-3 for JUCO power Florida Southwestern State. During the 2019 season, when the team went 54-3, Lawton finished 12-2 with a 1.36 ERA and 102 K's in 98 innings pitched. She parlayed that into a scholarship at Florida Gulf Coast University and led the staff with an 8-4 record, 2.16 ERA and an average of eight strikeouts per outing before the virus cancelled the season. A criminal justice major, she will be a big addition to the Stratford Brakettes this year.
