In just 43 games for the Stratford Brakettes, Briana Marcelino already has established herself as a crowd favorite. Posting astronomical offensive numbers, to go along with sensational fielding plays at shortstop, she figures to be the next Brakettes player selected in the National Pro Fastpitch league draft in 2021. In her abbreviated season at UConn, the Joel Barlow High grad was hitting .348 (23-for-66) with eight doubles, four home runs and 24 RBI for the 16-5 Huskies. She led Barlow to the CIAC Class M championship in 2017. In 2019 Briana was chosen first team American Athletic Conference. Twice selected first team WMS All-America, Marcelino has collected a pair of Micki Stratton MVP and Pat Dufficy Home Run awards and one Allyson Rioux Defensive Player award. She hit .647 (33-for-51) with eight doubles, 11 home runs, and 44 RBI in just 20 games last year. Her two-year batting average is .521 with 14 doubles, 18 home runs, and 72 RBI.
