Abby Ota has had the fastest wheels in Connecticut high school softball ever since she hit the scene three years ago and she didn't even drive! The 5-foot-3 Joel Barlow junior dazzled the fans at DeLuca Field last summer, albeit a cameo appearance as she spent most of the summer with the Georgia Impact Premier travel team on the national JO circuit. The adept left-handed slapper and bunter hit a team-leading .452 (she lacked the number of official plate appearances to qualify for the title). She had a record-breaking sophomore season for the Falcons, who made it to the Class M semi-finals, with a .725 batting average (58-for-80). Boasting terrific speed, she has 60 career stolen bases in 62 attempts and a .652 batting average with 105 hits. Ota is ranked as one of the country's Top 100 prospects.
