Softball savvy, acumen, or ability has never been measured in terms of one's height. The proverb about good things coming in small packages is the best description of Stamford native Dana Serricchio, a first-year member of the Junior Brakettes. Her accomplishments on the diamond have been well chronicled for many years and she has begun writing another chapter at Springfield College this past spring. At 5-foot-1 she continues to amaze everyone with her softball talent and performance. The four- year starting shortstop at tradition-rich Stamford High, where she earned first-team All-State and All-FCIAC in 2019, was the leadoff hitter and the lynchpin of the high-scoring Black Knights offense that produced a 18-6 overall record. She compiled a .406 career batting average with 128 hits, 96 runs 27 extra base hits. She hit a career best .462 as a senior with 42 hits, 35 runs, and 15 RBI. Winning the Stamford City Championship three of her four years ranked high among her finest moments. Rival Westhill Coach Tom Pia calls Serricchio, an outstanding softball player, both in the field and at bat. She was one of the best in our state. Majoring in physical education at Springfield, where she was 1-for-3 in a win over Amherst on opening, and closing day (virus),while playing third base, she also was a four-year soccer standout at Stamford.
