Position: P/1B Bats: R Throws: R College: Mazuk H.S./Amherst Resides: Monroe, CT The odds were overwhelming that Madison Procyk would have been a four-time All-South West Conference softball player this spring. Although it was not to be, the talented Masuk High School senior can take pride in the fact that she is just one of a select few to attain that honor three times. As sports editor of the Masuk Free Press, Maddie would be hard-pressed to remain humble if she was asked to write her own player profile. In playing a key role on consecutive CIAC Class L championships, Procyk earned first-team All-State as a junior when she hit .457 and compiled a 9-0 pitching record. When not pitching, she played first base. It was her bases-loaded sacrifice fly that drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning of a scoreless title game with East Haven. Her three-year statistics are unbelievable: 108 hits, 105 RBI, 81 runs scored, 0.62 ERA, 260 strikeouts, and a 23-1 overall record. She will take her 4.87 GPA to Amherst College next fall, where she hopes to lead the Mammoths to a third NCAA tournament bid in five years. By the way, the only four-time All-SWC selection was another Masuk High standout, Rachele Fico (2006-2009), who also had a 94-1 career pitching record for the Stratford Brakettes. |
